I built an app in Softr for the HVAC industry to solve some crucial problems. The problem is that those in the HVAC industry and similar industries like construction, plumbing, and electrical do not have one source of truth where: 1. Their clients can request for thier services. 2. Clients can be onboarded after they make a payment. 3. They store the information and bio data of their technicians. 4. They assign tasks to their technicians. 5. Technicians can track onsite jobs with pictures in real time of when working. 6. Clients see the progress of their projects. 7. Invoices and quotations from paid clients can be tracked. 8. Technicians borrow assets from the company, and they can be tracked. 9. There is a database where every individual, from technicians to admin and clients, are all stored. 10. Login details from every individual are secured and they can only see things that are their business without seeing that of another person, be ita technician or a client. These and many more are what people in these industries face as a challenge. I came up with a solution that addresses all these problems. I built a workflow that also auto-populated the users table in the database with technicians and clients when the records are filled in the technician and client tables, respectively. There is also a workflow that sends an email to the admin when a client makes a request from the portal. Taking advantage of the database, workflow, and portal gave a full-blown application for the HVAC industry. If you are in the construction, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC industry and you need a similar build, reach out, and I will be more than happy to replicate this for you or something similar in Softr.

🚨 JUST NOW: President Trump is classifying the White House ballroom is a MILITARY imperative project, declaring a judge CANNOT be allowed stop construction GOOD! "One with Bomb Shelters, a State of the Art Hospital and Medical Facilities, Protective Partitioning, Top Secret Military Installations, Structures, and Equipment, Protective Missile Resistant Steel, Columns, Roofs, and Beams, Drone Proof Ceilings and Roofs, Military Grade Venting, and Bullet, Ballistic, and Blast Proof Glass —which all means that no future President, living in the White House without this Ballroom, can ever be Safe and Secure at Events, Future Inaugurations, or Global Summits." "This Magnificent Space will allow them to carry out their vital duties as the Leader of our Nation." "Furthermore, the Ballroom, which is being constructed on budget and ahead of schedule, is needed now. Almost all material necessary for its construction is being built and/or on its way to the site, ready for installation and erection." "Much of it has already been paid for, costing Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. If somebody, especially one with no standing, had a complaint — Why wasn’t it filed many months earlier, long before Construction was started?" "The Public Record was open for all to see. Everybody knew that it was planned, and going to be built. This highly political Judge, and his illegal overreach, is out of control, and costing our Nation greatly. This is a mockery to our Court System!" "The Ballroom is deeply important to our National Security, and no Judge can be allowed to stop this Historic and Militarily Imperative Project."

Tired of spending a fortune on flimsy garden trellises that break after one season? There is a brilliant, budget-friendly gardening hack that solves the problem using an unexpected hardware store find: mason ladders. Typically used to reinforce concrete block walls, these heavy-duty metal structures make incredibly sturdy, long-lasting, and flexible plant supports for a fraction of the cost. By tucking the ends of a mason ladder into opposite sides of a raised garden bed, it forms a perfect, stable archway. This allows vining plants to climb upward naturally, transforming vertical space into a highly efficient growing zone. The benefits of this simple DIY setup are a game-changer for any garden: Maximizes Limited Space: Going vertical frees up valuable ground real estate, allowing for a much higher yield in small or urban garden beds. Built-In Climate Control: As the climbing vines grow over the archway, their large leaves create a natural canopy. This built-in shade protects delicate, heat-sensitive plants growing underneath from getting scorched by the intense summer sun. Cost-Effective and Durable: At under five dollars each, mason ladders are vastly cheaper than commercial garden arches and far more durable against wind and heavy fruit. Improves Plant Health: Keeping foliage and fruit off the damp soil increases air circulation and drastically reduces the risk of soil-borne diseases and pests. This vertical arch technique works exceptionally well for a wide variety of climbing and vining crops, including: Cucumbers: Perfect for keeping the fruit straight and easy to harvest. Pole Beans and Sugar Snap Peas: These lightweight climbers will effortlessly blanket the metal frame. Small Squash and Melons: Varieties like luffa, cantaloupe, or mini pumpkins love the extra structural support. Vining Tomatoes: Indeterminate varieties can be easily trained up and over the arch for maximum sun exposure. With a quick trip to the construction aisle, anyone can level up their garden layout, protect their crops from extreme heat, and save a ton of cash in the process.

One thing I wish I did differently when starting out with my cabinet shop was to leverage outsourcing and subcontractors more. I started my business in a 1-car garage at 24 yrs old. I was young, hungry, and felt I needed to prove a point so I committed to purchasing all the equipment I thought I needed to start a woodworking business. Nearly $200k spent in the first 6 months outfitting a 5,000 sf shop with only $15k coming in. I did have cash saved up so the initial investment did not include taking on a ton of debt. But it was a horrible way to allocate the funds. Unlike many trades-based business, it is uncommon to be able to rent equipment for a cabinet shop so I went all in on my own. However, you can 100% rent time on other shop's machines, buy out cabinet doors and drawer boxes, sub out finishing to a painter, sub out delivery, and install, etc. I did none of this when I started out. I bought all the equipment, manufactured all of the components, did all of the finishing, self-performed all deliveries, and did install myself. It was a total grind and it made managing cashflow a nightmare. I ended up becoming a shop other woodworkers paid to rent machine time and that covered a good portion of my bills years 1 & 2. It wasn't until 5 years in that I was beaten down enough by poor cashflow that I started to sub out delivery and installs. We still manufactured all components and did finishing in house as we were focused on high quality and customization and had tooled up in the process of settling in this niche. Which didn't make it economical to outsource with the equipment and staff I had. I don't regret doing things this way because I gained 20 years of experience in 10 years but it certainly made scaling a custom cabinet business 10x more difficult. Sure, the technical aspect of engineering, manufacturing, and installation had a steep learning curve but I loved every minute of that learning curve. The constant pressure that clouded my judgement and ultimately led to burnout was a poor cash conversion cycle and margin compression from equipment loans and overhead. I feel fortunate to have been able to put myself through the ringer for a decade and gained a ton of experience that I can now apply to the next venture but I sure am happy to have been able to exit that business financially unscathed. It was a nail biter nearly every day. The video below inspired this reflection and I think it's a great message to those just starting out with any business, not just excavating or the trades.

I'd like to tell you a quick story of how I learned a very valuable, and very painful lesson in 2008 I had a 💰 windfall This was during the great finance crisis, the Covid of that era. I had nothing better to do 🤷‍♂️ and to relieve that boredom and regain the thrill, I started trading stocks. I discovered a little co called intuitive surgical, I think I was on one of their very first demonstration of the potential of the da Vinci. It was before the company really took off, I think it was around early 2008, but whatever. I bought a ton of the stock and I mean a ton If I were to carry the stock certificates it would've been heavy. The stock went up a dollar or so, I scalped it and took a profit 💥 BOOM $$$ what did I do next? I saw some Chinese solar stocks buzzing and I decided to get a trade on them. I captured a small gain in intuive surgical and a huge loss on ‘China fun’ and the rest of the buzzy solar stocks. Intuitive surgical became the medical $tsla Lessons should be painful. I invested in tsla heavy from 2012, more in 2014 and so on and soaked up a lot of short selling stock and endless bad news. Ditto what was happening to my position in Facebook. I learned to endure Buy what you believe in, it’s like buying a house and seeing its exquisite potential. I'm sharing this for myself, you can have it if you want it. The future is coming faster than you think. It’s not a sci-fi story - cos you’ll be living it. It’s not a book you can put down. Lastly, to me and to you… Never, ever, short America

Stories of High-Quality Development | Old home renovation: How to put an end to the 'mystery box' problem Nowadays, people have higher expectations for their living spaces, but when it comes to home renovation, many still find it a headache. Are the quotes inflated? Will there be hidden add-on costs? How will the final result turn out? Homeowners are full of concerns. How can renovation shed its "mystery box" problem and become more transparent and professional? The answer lies in clear standards and the smart use of technology. In recent years, I have seen changes in the industry. On the one hand, cost has become transparent. Digital quoting systems break down each step of the process in detail, with brand models, construction techniques and individual costs listed item by item, making the expense breakdown as clear as a supermarket receipt. Third-party fund supervision mechanisms hold payments in stages based on the project's progress. Funds are only paid to the contractor after the homeowner inspects and approves each phase, making the entire process more open. On the other hand, the construction process has become transparent. Monitoring platforms allow homeowners to oversee the work online in real time, with live footage of the construction site always accessible. Smart detection instruments use quantitative standards instead of visual checks, making it easier to spot errors. At the same time, a dedicated project coordinator follows every stage, from design and construction to inspection, keeping a close eye on all details. Many say renovation is like a tough battle, demanding both time and effort. But now, standardized processes keep the process in check, and technology has opened up the mystery box. Renovation is becoming simpler, more transparent and less stressful. (Narrator: Xin Guiwu, Home Renovation Designer)

On February 18, 2024, I shared a message regarding the need for accountability, transparency, and true repentance from leaders, especially in the Church. The intention of my message was to share the critical need and call for greater levels of health, purity, and accountability for leaders. However, I realize now that I did not express compassion for, or address the need for the protection of all victims of abuse and sexual misconduct that I see in and out of the Church. This is and has always been my priority in these situations. My omission has hurt many in the Body who are processing hurt concerning the heartbreaking situations unfolding at IHOPKC and elsewhere. This is my mistake and I am deeply sorry. I ask for forgiveness for the people whom I have hurt with this omission. I would like to share my heart on this issue, which I failed to fully articulate in my message. I am deeply concerned and grieved by the situations unfolding amongst Christian leaders. I have advocated for morality and a high standard of integrity both before the Body of Christ and the Lord. In my attempt to clarify a need for spaces where leaders can bring their sin struggles before a community that will help them to get free, I overlooked the importance of communicating my heart for the victims. Let me be clear: it is never okay for leaders to groom or manipulate people. Clergy sexual misconduct must be brought into the light and dealt with appropriately. This is so that perpetrators can be held accountable and have the opportunity to genuinely repent and find healing for their sins and brokenness. Victims receiving healing and wholeness should be our priority. Thank you for your consideration, and again, please forgive me.
