Its insane really, that was NOT alucard and Mostly definitely NOT ritcher and Maria , so damn done with people thinking Castlevania whole legacy is this poor excuse of a tv series

Yeah everybody is a glorified OC tbh. I dislike how it’s changed the public perception for many of them. Dracula, Lisa, & Juste through all 6 seasons of both shows are the only characters I can think of that use their game counterparts material okay-ish for this adaptation 💀

And It was okay ish for these 3!, i hated How they handled ritcher and took away his heroic bravery,and seeing our Sweet Maria be saddled as some proud patricider was disgusting, but what they did with "Alucard" with that fuck ass "three" way "relationship"-

Was absolutely the last nail in the (proverbial) vampire coffin, that Will NEVER be Alucard!

Netflixvania as a whole. Even if season 1 and 2 were genuinely pretty good, it's a lot closer to an abridged series than a proper Castlevania story.

Yup. That’s why I feel conflicted about it being so many ppls first introduction to Castlevania in general for the past decade 💔 It does not really represent what the series is after a certain point…

I feel the opposite honestly. Even with Warren just looking through the wikis as embarrassing as that is for a writer LOL, the original show still managed to have more Castlevania elements in it than the entirety Nocturne

Let's take the Belmont known for his confidence and make him a scared helpless sadboy. Like come on. And still I am wondering, where is the Vampire Killer. Not the Morning Star, the Vampire Killer.

I’m still disappointed Juste did not have a scene of him giving the Morning Star to Richter. Since the Morning Star basically acts as the Netflixvania version of the Vampire Killer for all intents and purposes. Such a big missed opportunity.

I pray they never touch Order of Ecclesia or the Sorrow duology

This is how I saw both Netflix adaptations. What really amazes me is how Nocturne got two seasons after the failures of writing that were seasons 2-4 of the OG.

From my understanding, Nocturne actually had both of it’s seasons green-lit at the same time. Season 1&2 were a package deal, segmented in production by Netflix for a flow of content distribution. That’s why the announcement of season 2 came out like, a DAY after season 1 aired

I believe much of it was from the scrapped Castlevania III movie project from around a decade before the Netflix deal. IIRC Warren didn't like IGA because he made so many revisions to Warren's scripts during pre-production.

Like even if it was kind of wacky the original series was better

The downgrade in writing between the two shows is embarrassing. I have a little bit of a soft spot for season one but even that has extremely questionable creative liberties

I give season 1 & 2 of the original show a little benefit for being more in line with what Castlevania is lol but after that we are watching expensive fan fiction ✌️

Just Netflix adaptations overall..

Cyberpunk & Arcane were both pretty good. It makes the WORLD of difference to have the actual game developers & writers involved in the creative process!

Sometimes we really just want our favorite stories to be retold in the adaptations why cant they give us that

I will always advocate that it was a big missed opportunity to not have Netflixvania act as a TRUE anthology series spanning the millennium of story there is to expand upon in the games. Starting with Trevor was perfect. But skipping straight to Richter screams unconfidence 🤷‍♂️

Truly hurts we may never see a true animated adaptation. I still think the best way to do it would be giving each Belmont a short season to focus on the games original story and then move onto the next

Wow! It’s almost like Adi Shankar is the biggest larper in all of Hollywood! All he wants to do is take action figures and bash them together in cool fight scenes, characterizations be damned

Adi Shankar was not involved in Nocturne, he’s only in the credits of it because of the previous show. He had to be plastered as a producer because of a lawsuit involving his fallout with Ellis. If anybody is to be criticized, it is ALL the writers and overseers of that process.

He is still a victim of doing that. He did that with the original series and he did that to DMC

I’m really happy you did, don’t let anybody take that experience away from you. Lord knows I tried to enjoy them for what they are 🥀 Would always highly recommend the game series if you have not already given them a shot ofc. There is a little bit of connective tissue

Yeah honestly don’t really care about the Mephistopheles stuff. It is most likely the Netflixvania version Chaos. But to pivot THAT into a Symphony of the Night adaptation? It’s hard to be invested knowing the writers are just doing their own things. Why even call it Castlevania

Honestly the netflixvania as a whole, including the first two “decent” seasons that ellis worked on as well considering he admitted to not even playing the game(s).

Should I watch Castlevannia and skip Nocture?

If you want to get into Castlevania you should play the games first and foremost 😆 Working on a beginners guide video but in the meantime if games like Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, or Aria of Sorrow interest you then definitely try them out 🔥

whenever netlfiixvania is mentioned i am duty bound to tell the story that there was originally going to be a character named Mathias in the show because Adi liked the name and had to be told that Mathias, Vlad, and Dracula were all the same character because he didn't know
