not to feed in to t*ktok discourse but whats wrong with instagram reels like is it not just exactly the same or

algorithmically they are completely different, and $ wise the incentives are different

yeah i’ve heard this from creator friends who have been very successful on tiktok but unable to transfer to instagram. but idk if its harder to set up an enjoyable feed as a user

@CatOrman1 You’re not supposed to scroll the feed. You’re supposed to watch Reels. The feed is a remnant from a different time in IG’s life. Reels is where the tik tok experience is at. The UX could use improvement to make that more obvious.

- Countdown out now

@CatOrman1 Actually a good demonstration.

@CatOrman1 Not to be an IG apologist, but I have Favorited my actual friends and top creator accounts on IG so I see them in my feed constantly. I don't have TikTok so can't compare to that experience, but even with a few ads, I see what I expect to see on IG 🤷🏻♀️ She just may not use it well

@CatOrman1 I’m a bit suspicious at this. None of the accounts that she said she didn’t follow had a follow button next to them. In my experience if you’re shown an account you don’t follow your Instagram feed, the follow button is there so you can easily change that.

@CatOrman1 Great example, I don't use TikTok but once Instagram stopped their chronological timeline and started splicing in ads, I was done. Better off with Twitter and YouTube.

@CatOrman1 Maybe they could just go outside?

@CatOrman1 also true

@CatOrman1 Reels is a different algorithm than normal insta

@CatOrman1 That’s not Reels though — that’s the homepage for posts. Don’t make me defend Reels!!!

@CatOrman1 I didn't have the same experience scrolling the feed just now.
