Gladiator with a tangent . . . My son never seen the original Gladiator film (my favorite film) so we watched it on Christmas Day together (great present). I loved this film right from this opening scene showing then battle in Germania . . . this entire movie was epicly impressive. We seen the sequel before he headed back to college in January it’s good but it doesn’t measure up to the original obviously but it’s one of those great nostalgic memories.

The entire 9:14 opening sequence of DRIVE with Ryan Gosling was one of the greatest realistic car chase scenes in the Michael Mann-Heat style imo. It was the first time I looked at Ryan like a talented actor and this full opening scene was beyond perfect.
