The Catholic Church has been consistently AGAINST divorce and separation for 2000 years. Marriage is not a wedding day, it is a death. The death of the isolated self. When a man and a woman become one flesh, it is not sentimental language. It is a joining that says, your suffering is now mine, your burdens are now mine, your future is now mine.
