Catherine O'Hara suggested using calypso music for the possession scene in "Beetlejuice" (1988). With Jeffrey Jones, she proposed Harry Belafonte's "Day-O".
Sad day! Great actor BEST SCENE in Bettlejuice. Could watch this scene over & over on repeat its comedy genius! R.I.P 🕊🕊💔
You don’t realise the greatness of this scene till your an adult

Rest in peace, Catherine O’Hara. Thank you for all the laughter and joy you brought into our lives. 💔
@DrewBea82 A scene that could never be replicated ever again. It would never look perfect or even right in a hypothetical remake
Rest in peace 😢💔 🕊️
So so sad! Legend! For us 80’s kids! Thinking of Winona!
As a society, we need to reckon with the use of this song, but not today. Not today.
@PinkGlenCoCo This is how I will always remember her

@PrettyLiesAlibi Catherine O’Hare was simply the best💔
My childhood🥹 I use to be obsessed with this part. My auntie use to put this on for me and my sisters… and we would watch it over, and over!! Awh!
RIP Catherine, watched since childhood! Spirit world gained another great soul!! ☺️💐🕊️
Actors are amazing. That's all I got to say. RIP Catharine.
For those of you who are fans of bizarre horror/comedy Catherine was also in a lesser-known episode of The Outer Limits called, "The Revelations of Becka Paulson" which was an adaption of a Stephen King story. It's a bit disturbing but quite interesting.
Jeeeeeesus, I replayed this exact scene countless times on VHS as a teenager in the early 90s. 🤩 RIP. 🙏
My favourite scene with her in it. RIP 🙏🏼
@Gemstarsjar That was such a fun scene! ^^
