He’s right but…he should have clarified while our own works cannot merit salvation, works done in love under the Grace of God are necessary. We can’t strictly merit anything but congruent & condign merit are part of salvation which is not a one time event & can be lost.

The Key to Salvation Are you looking for easy ways to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others? Carry these keys with you, wherever you go, and hand them out to people. 🔓🙂 Buy this KJV Card, here:

Cooperate with Grace and you will do the works God made you to do

True faith is always accompanied by good works, works just translates to deeds or actions, which the Bible says we should do, so something as small as praying for someone is considered works, giving alms or visiting the imprisoned are works. So yes works do matter.

Sola fide and Sola opus are heresies! Works alone don't get you into heaven nor faith alone! Love put into motion thanks to the grace of God!

Finally some sanity on X.

Pretty clear in Ephesians 2:8

Liar

How very LUTHERAN! Indeed, works do not save you, it is baptism, faith in Christ, and God’s grace. Maybe your Catholic brethren will find a way to reach across the aisle to (Confessional) Lutherans. I promise you’ll like our music a lot better.

The "but" part makes it works salvation. Rather scriptural 101 is that we are saved based on God's will and work alone, that our "cooperation" is a effect of true faith and a outward sign to others as to our spiritual state.

Makes perfect sense.
