Dear @CPhilpOfficial It most definitely is opportunism if you force MPs to choose between voting for a Bill that does more to safeguard children than any UK Govt has done for 14.5yrs or for a gimmicky bill-killing amendment that doesn't even secure a new inquiry (we've had 10).

This morning the Senate passed the Fair Work Amendment (Baby Priya’s) Bill 2025 which provides that employers must pay parental leave to employees who suffer the tragedy of a stillbirth. I moved an amendment to the Bill which would have prevented intentional terminations of pregnancy potentially being treated as stillbirths for the purposes of the Fair Work Act, including paid parental leave provisions which this Bill creates. Unfortunately, my amendment was defeated, and the Bill passed. I really think it’s unfortunate that they are not sending it to the Standing Committee. What the community feels is that this Bill is going to obliterate their identity, and therefore it was very important that they should have been consulted, and that this Bill being brought forward should have been passed after proper consultation. I think it’s very unfair that the entire community feels they have not been consulted, and that such a big decision is being taken in their context. I wish the government had listened and referred it to the Standing Committee. : Congress General Secretary & MP Smt. This bill would ban specific weather modification activities like cloud seeding and solar radiation modification within Pennsylvania. If passed, it would aim to protect the environment, public health, and what the bill sponsors see as a constitutional right to clean air by preventing the release of pollutants through these means. For families, the act's sponsors state it would protect the air quality they breathe and the natural environment for their children.
