Cats And Automatic Feeder

Whilst this is funny, I'm much happier knowing my cats have food in their bowls at all times.

This is strange to me. Felt bad for the cats. My kitties have always had constant access to dry food, and have eaten when they felt the need to do so. These food timer things might be useful for managing weight issues, but beyond that I don't get it. Seems kind of cruel.

So do people only feed their cats once a day? When I was growing up, everyone I knew just left food out for the cats all the time and if it got low you just added more. The bowl was never heaping but the cats never went hungry.

The reaction I get late at night, putting the the ketchup from dinner back in the fridge; CHEESE, PLEASE? Didn't you go to sleep 2 hours ago? I'M UP NOW! MEOW!

When I have cat I actually plain to try something that is smaller meals through out the day, several hours apart. This will include play time. I've always been told that a good play time where your cat reaches panting then stop. If they have a lot of energy then wait until the rest and stop panting then play some more. And of course always end hunting play with a reward. I'm gonna look in to giving whole pray like freeze dried quail. I plan to get them used to getting their weight checked so I can monitor their health.

We don't have one anymore but ours never quite reacted like that. 🤣🤣 Now they hoover around me for about 30 minutes before feeding time.
