This is a black panther. When it was born and abandoned, the owner thought it was a kitten and brought it home. Later, when it grew up, it realized it was a panther. But because it had been with humans for so long, it was domesticated and became close friends with the dog.

Blackie, a sleek black feline with piercing green eyes, served as the cherished ship's cat aboard the HMS Prince of Wales during the tumultuous times of World War II. He performed his duties with silent grace, blending into the background of naval life until a remarkable day in 1941 carved a niche for him in history. On this memorable day, a high-profile figure graced the vessel's deck, having just concluded a clandestine summit with the U.S. leader in the distant waters off Newfoundland. As this prominent British politician made his way to disembark, Blackie sauntered up to him, unfazed by the aura of importance. The statesman, known for his fondness for animals, paused and stooped down in a moment of gentle reprieve from the weighty affairs of state. He extended his hand towards Blackie, who graciously accepted the gesture, their brief encounter captured by the eager lenses of photographers and film cameras. This moment of serendipity thrust Blackie into the limelight, transforming him from a ship's mascot to a feline icon. Such was the impact of this encounter that Blackie's identity was forever altered. In honor of his brush with greatness, the crew bestowed upon him a name that echoed with respect and affection: Churchill, a name that would resonate with his newfound fame as a whiskered celebrity of the war-torn seas.
