Democracy is dead, but the illusion of it is kept alive. Our regime says that to maintain peace in Europe, we need to go to war with Russia. To protect democracy, we have to ban right-wing parties and to protect freedom of speech we have to censor disinformation. Just like in Orwell’s 1984: War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

It is okay to come to the United States and practice your religion in peace and prosperity. The line gets crossed when, in order to advance your religion, others must submit to it. We have seen people resort to terror in order to stop freedom of assembly in New York, freedom of worship in Michigan, freedom to go to a bar in Texas, and even the freedom to attend a university in Virginia. It must end.
