@Grumpy__Bear__ A sign you weren’t raised on an iPad.

It was a huge deal in my house when this would make it's annual appearance on TV. Everything was else canceled.

When he went in the hole was tough on 5 year old me

I loved it so much I bought the DVD to make sure my kids saw it.

Gen X regular programming

This takes me back. Dang.

I watched this with my students a bunch ages ago

For many years after seeing this as a child, the Mongoose was my favorite animal. A great film.

That was serious recess talk the next day.

Watched that in elementary school back in the 70s. Loved it.

Love this show growing up. Watched it every year. Another great one was "The White Seal" Not as good as Rikki, but still very well done.

Must see tv! Once a year, right up there with Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka & Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

"Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" (1975). With Orson Welles. Directed by Chuck Jones. .

Love this. Underrated, lost classic. Chuck Jones animation.

When I was a kid and saw this I assumed RTT's antics were exaggerated for cartoon reasons. Come to find out years later, seeing real mongooses, that they're actually like that, right down to the aggressive butt-wagging.

I remember watching that!! Great Chuck Jones piece.

Was terrified of a snake around the bottom of the toilet for years after this

I was there.

A timeless classic only the brilliant combination of Chuck Jones and Orson Welles (narrator and voice of Nag) can deliver!

Very few mongooses, however old and wise, care to follow a cobra into its hole

Oh my goodness what a memory to unlock!!

Also RTT had 0 chill. Sent all those eggs to the forever box then held one hostage to get Nagaina away from the kid.

A classic. My kids loved it as well.

Thought about this for the first time in decades and immediately realized it was Chuck Jones. What a legend

I remember watching this as a kid, and it scared the crap out of me.

Rick and morty fans just now realizing Rick didn't just say gibberish

COBRA!!!!

Story once carried Cinema and Television! Not celebrity names and cgi!! Four frames of animation could be a EPIC BATTLE FOR THE AGES! Just as long as the story nailed the buildup!! …;

Absolutely loved when they would air this every year as a kid and yes I saw it when it originally came out lol

I haven’t seen this movie since I was a little kid

This and "Watership Down" gave me some restless nights.

I absolutely loved this movie! I watched it without fail every year.

Does anyone know why this doesn't get the yearly airing as it used to long ago? The world these days needs the occasional airing of this kind of program. All young kids today get to watch is crime & murder dramas, argumentative "reality" shows, and sporting events. 🫤

One of my favorites as a kid. And just now pieced together maybe this is why I'm still so traumatized about Flower's death on Meerkat Manor. 😭
