8 Killed, 25 Injured in Bangkok Train-Bus Collision Near Makkasan Station Eight people were killed and about 25 injured according to initial reports after a freight train collided with a public bus and several vehicles at a railway crossing in central Bangkok on Friday, triggering a major fire. The crash occurred at about 3.35 p.m. near Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station on Asok-Din Daeng Road when State Railway of Thailand freight train No. 2126, operating from Laem Chabang to Bang Sue Junction, struck a blue air-conditioned Route 206 bus that had stopped across the tracks while waiting at a red light at the Asok-Phetchaburi intersection. Several cars and motorcycles were also caught in the collision. The impact sparked a fire that engulfed the area before firefighters brought the blaze under control. Rescue workers and emergency personnel rushed injured victims to nearby hospitals. Authorities said the death toll could rise as investigations continued. Smoke from the fire also affected the Airport Rail Link’s Makkasan Station above the crash site, forcing a temporary station closure and causing trains to pass through without stopping. Services resumed normally at 4.35 p.m. after the situation was brought under control. The Transport Ministry said the State Railway of Thailand and the Department of Rail Transport had launched an urgent investigation into the cause of the accident and safety conditions at the level crossing. #Thailand #Bangkok #ไฟไหม้ #มักกะสัน #รถไฟชนรถเมล์
