Celebrating one year on with more cyclists using Edinburgh’s City Centre West to East Link. Cycling Scotland recorded 1,000 more bike journeys in January 2025 vs 2024. Pedestrian satisfaction levels have also increased thanks to wider pavements, and improved crossing points.

1000 more journeys in January. So an average of 32 more per day… presuming most people return the way they came, that is 16 more people a day using a bike. Wld it be unreasonable to say they are mostly the same people each day too? Perhaps 30 more cyclists than last year…

It cost ~£20m but since "opening" has never been usable end-2-end because of flaws (eg. Wester Coates & Haymarket), other works (eg. closed for months at Rosebery Cres), closed for months because of the Melville St works. Not exactly the success story you'd like us to believe 🧐

Carefull use of numbers 1000 more , also heard it was up 83% so that means it's gone from 1200 to 2200 that's just 73 cycle journeys a day so roughly it's getting 40 cyclists a day , that doesn't fill one floor of a bus .. and you are pleased ? You should be ashamed

🚆Today Monday marks one year of the Northumberland Line, and we’re celebrating with a full route time lapse video. More than 920,000 journeys have already been made between Newcastle, Manors, Seaton Delaval, Newsham, Blyth Bebside and Ashington. The line has become a go to for weekend travel, and we’re now seeing more commuters and students using it during the week too. Since October 2023, World Health Organization (WHO) and partners have evacuated over 10,600 patients from Gaza with severe health conditions, including over 5600 children, each one in need of critical advanced treatment. Yet, many more patients remain in Gaza awaiting evacuation to receive appropriate health care. According to Ministry of Health, 1092 patients have died while awaiting medical evacuation between July 2024 and November 28, 2025. However, this figure is likely underreported. WHO calls on more countries to open doors to patients from Gaza, and for medical evacuation to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be restored. Lives depend on it.

Footage from the S V Road Walk on Monday, Goregaon West. The pedestrian crossing point visible is not even as wide as the painted zebra crossing. And everyday people go through this situation in the morning and the evening rush hour. We have been highlighting how the craze to make roads difficult to cross has taken over the city in the past decade. This is clearly a vehice centric approach to move the most amount of vehicles over actually moving the most number of people. Points to note 1) Roads like S V Road are not highways. These are urban roads with dense habitation on both sides creating the need for frequent crossing. 2) Crossing the road is a fundamental need as a pedestrian with FSI being doled out on tap and density increasing 3) Wider crossings allow for simultaneous crossing in both directions and reduces bunching of pedestrians and dwell time at the narrow and dangerous median refuge. 4) There have to be frequent wide crossings if not keep the dividers as they once were. Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces New York City will launch the nation’s first one-click cancellation rule and a sweeping crackdown on junk fees. If you can sign up with one click, you’ll have to be able to cancel with one click. The new transparency rules will also require all-in pricing upfront, with the city estimating the changes will save New Yorkers more than $162 million every year.

After a record year of 29 fatal traffic collisions in 2024, we’ve already had 3 fatal collisions so far in 2025 & we’re still in the first month of the New Year. People’s lives have been forever changed by these tragedies & it has to stop. This is an alarming trend that cannot continue. 🗣 2024 marked the highest number of fatal collisions since 2013, a continuation of a year-over-year increase in collisions since 2021. It was also the highest year for pedestrian fatalities since 2005. Having the right of way does not always mean it is safe to proceed. Whether in a marked crosswalk or driving through a green light, it is crucial for all road users to first establish that it is in fact safe to proceed. As the city’s population continues to grow, that means there are more vehicles & more people using Calgary roads. We all need to look out for one another when driving, walking, cycling or using other modes of transportation. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. We’re encouraging motorists to continue to drive safe all year round, no matter the weather or road conditions. We all deserve to make it home safe to our families every day.
