They do not have enough cruise missiles to cost effectively target Iran. 🔸On the first day and during the initial strikes, the US still took the remaining Iranian air defenses (after Operation Midnight Hammer in June last year) quite seriously, relying heavily on EA-18G's EW capabilities and a clean F-35 loadout at the cost of payload. 🔸Its carrier strike groups has to stay within 1000km of its targets to have sufficient sorties for saturation strikes. 🔸Which means, a peer military power like China who is capable of holding American strike assets out to 2000km, will eliminate the US's ability to launch saturation attacks. Thus taking away any realistic means for the US to contest against China in East Asia and Western Pacific. If anything, this vindicates China's A2AD (Anti-Access/Area Denial) strategy.
