No team who did not earn the right to play an extra game should improve their place in the rankings over a team who did.

If youre Penn State or Georgia and lose to a top 2 team you should not get punished. If youre SMU and lose to a 3 loss Clemson that is ranked 17th and 0-2 vs the SEC and lose after no win vs top 25 teams you should be punished.

The CFP is about the SEC and Big 10. Everybody else not named Notre Dame needs a conference championship apparently.
