both are good, but my preference will almost always be 2D

An explosion like the 2D one looks cool when its part of the action, but Demon Slayer doesn't have over the top explosive beams of energy and so, a more realistic, CG explosion fits the tone of the scene far better than something like the 2D explosion here would have!
