It's like a CVT but for a bike... oh, wait, CVTs fail miserably, left and right.

Really wish people would stop complicating simple products. Chain drive works. I'm quite sure it is cheaper, and more reliable than this thing. Put a load on it, add some sand and mud then see how it performs.

Can’t tell from the pic, but hopefully the driveshaft is not fixed, and floats with the rear suspension. Because the slack in the chain serves a second purpose: To minimize wear and shock on the drive system…

This was made by a Turk inventor 12 years ago.

This is a concept? Um… since when?

Pope Manufacturing Company came out with them in 1897, and they never really caught on.

Everything the direction of power is shifted eg 90° you loose efficiency. Question is... is that less of a loss than a chain drive?

Switching gears is moving the sprocket in and out ?

Does it keep going for a while when I stop pedaling? you know that small moment in which we keep the pedals in place but the wheels keep turning.

Isn’t there always going to be mechanical loss in changing the direction of energy? Why do that when you have no loss with a chain?

This is a GREAT idea ... as long as you're not one of those barbarians who lets their bikes fall to the ground, park them in a bike rack (one swift kick or squirt of superglue from a delinquent), go off paved trails, etc. 🙄

Very nice Modifications from chain-bicycles to chain-free bicycles .... Top noch 🙌🙌❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👌👌

Wie hoch ist bei dem Konzept der Antriebsverlust @grok? Gerade auch im Vergleich zu klassischen 1 x 12 Kettenantrieben?

STRESS TEST IT!!!!.

How long those gear ⚙️ last 🤔🤔

drive it off the curb

uralt. ist eine andere art des kardanantriebs.

It’s different for sure, but is it better?

That looks like a really high stress point to me.

last a week

stupid, highly unreliable idea, should be banned

to complicated. to fragile.

Seems like abgood idea but u cant even go 10 km uphill with this, maybe only in straight

Just don't go hard.

A solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

Ok so when I fall down and bend my rear plate I do what? In fact it’s likely minor wheel damage will make it inoperable.

“Lotta candy for a dime” No grease? Metal-on-metal even w/the little roller bearings I don’t see this as a long term powertrain. Wait till those little balls jump out of socket while applying max torque to the pedals. The chain+sprocket design is proven for its durability.

Сколько лет этому концепту?)))))

Why did i not think of this before

Where’s the rest of the video

This made lots of news in cycling a few years ago then went silent. I don't believe they could ever come up with a reliable, somewhat-affordable production model. The savings in efficiency is pretty negligible vs aero (and just general fitness, lol!)

We are in the future
