Changes of direction aren’t sharp enough to be technical mastery or fast enough to be speed. Bags 👎🏼 Reacting to pointing only gets you better at reacting to pointing (Google, it’s true) Contact isn’t firm/strong enough for power and absolutely zero technique why even have it?

It's all about feeling your feet, keeping your eyes up. It's a leg and ankle exercise while training to keep your eyes up. Sure you could use small hurdles, cones, ladders, or whatever other than bags but the drill is a good one for moving through traffic with your eyes up.

Can you offer a replacement drill or drills that can accomplish what you think is the goal here? I think at the highest level, practice needs to have shorter high intensity work, and a lot more review/walk thru/film. An uncomfortable level. Turning it on for Sundays is easy. I agree this is midground volume…

Gotta agree here, which is exactly why I don’t use bags in my training. Useless

I think the difference here is, these are NFL guys. Many would agree that watching an NFL practice tape looks trash and untechnical. But they know how to turn it on when Sunday comes. That’s what makes them the best, next level players.

Why are you not a fan of bags? What are younlooking for in Change of Direction?

Bags, In box want low foot recovery so cleats are in ground, ready for contact. I look at CoD like speed. Focus on technique to increase efficiency & direction of force or above 95% to drive max. Middle ground is just volume. COD is 1/2 agility & not weak point for most elites

Stimulus isn't intense or specific enough for any adaptation/growth. It's either a warm-up or a waste of time. I can't for the life of me understand the lateral movement over bags in every football drill.

Oklahoma drill always seemed to work for me.
