I post this with a heavy heart and a feeling of inadequacy. I’m 41, a combat infantry veteran and a “Christian” that gave many excuses about embracing god amidst all the horrors I’ve seen. Charlie was inspirational and truly the best of us and we took him for granted. I heard a quote the other day that everything good in life requires sacrifice and even heaven demands death. Charlie showed us a better way and died for what he believed in as I came so close before and still did not learn the lesson in front of me. It saddens me that it took his death for me to understand this. I’m buying my first bible since childhood and finding a church for this Sunday. I will no longer sit on my principled sideline without god and a voice for all that is good and just in our world.

I’m right there with you David. Charlie is still with us. He is in our souls. He spoke truth and we must continue to speak truth. Our nation is at war with the triangle of evil.
