Kirk is right that trust was damaged by mixed messaging, politics, and overconfidence. But vaccines saved lives, and many decisions were made amid real uncertainty, not a plot to mislead.

COVID was such a generational fuck up. They think they got away with it but there's a whole class of people for whom COVID was their childhood and we've yet to see them come into power.

Public trust was affected across many countries, not just by one set of policies.

Sadly, many small businesses were forced to shut down and yet at the same time, money in the form of EIDL loans was dangled in front of them. For most, it was the only way to survive. Their businesses eventually closed and they are now unable to repay...this was ALL on the government shutting them down! It's not discussed enough.
