But he does rebrand enough, politically, and steals enough talking points from conservatives that because he's got a big church - "church"; remember, women pastors - and big social media footprint that conservatives fall all over themselves to sell his deception because now he's saying a few things they like. And because his big church resources & platform give them access to more people. (4/)

The point here: The heart of liberalism is accomodating Christianity to the Spirit of the Age. And there are a whole lot of ways to do that. And a whole lot of ways to participate in it beyond, "I deny the virgin birth." (5/5)

I think @howertonjosh has repented of this. In this video he isn’t speaking about the clip you posted directly, but he is directly condemning his overall approach at the time. He has repented, it seems, to his church, and not he is stepping out faithfully in the world.

I mean, I still see him as a net positive like Tucker who’s pushing the Overton window. He’s much closer to our team than John Piper, and I think he’s at least mostly genuine, if genuinely wrong about a lot.

I think that's the wrong read. He's a grifter, first and foremost. No one wants those around. He's also one change in the wind's direction from using the credibility he's built up now to deceive people when the winds change. Finally, he's still pushing error, like women preachers.

I had to go back 3 times to be sure what I heard. He says it so clearly, and it rolled from his lips so confidently, that I thought "no way did I just hear that".

Reminds me of an SBC local Association director (past) preachin, and doubling down: "Unity is bigger than your theology".

He is. Or is until he repents of this stufff as publicly as he preached it. To be precise, he's on the record as a liberal. But he's probably not internally becaise to "be" something is beyond him.
