Does it catch anything after creating such havoc? Seems like the salmon would get away. Is the chaos intentional to alarm the salmon and make the easier to catch?

Usually, they are successful pushing the salmon toward shallow water and then pinning them down

Not as good as your sighting but we enjoyed this in Ketchikan earlier this month.
