FTSOv1 is now deprecated on Songbird. Starting today, all inflation rewards will transition to v2. Data providers can submit updates until the end of the reward epoch on Saturday, October 26th, after which they can claim rewards and cease providing prices for v1. There is a well-known chicken and egg problem when it comes to launching a new proof-of-stake blockchain. You need high value at stake to achieve economic security, but at the same time, for achieving that, you already need to be secure. With SPIN, you can borrow security from well-established networks such as Polkadot or Ethereum. Unlike a Layer 2, which completely gives up chain sovereignty and frequently sacrifices scalability and throughput to satisfy Layer 1 validation protocols, SPIN maintains full sovereignty of the Fast Chain while still benefiting from the security of the Anchor Chain. Our SPIN protocol addresses this fundamental challenge by enabling a fast, sovereign chain to maintain and grow its economic security with its own validator network, while simultaneously leveraging an established anchor chain to provide a second layer of finality. In these tests, the chain achieved over 30 BPS (blocks per second), operating with just 2 nodes. Due to the nature of the EVM, each block can include approximately 1,500 simple transfer transactions, resulting in a total capacity exceeding 45,000 TPS (transactions per second). It is important to note that these tests are designed to demonstrate the blockchain's capabilities. Achieving such a high number of blocks per second requires adjustments to mining reward parameters to prevent excessive inflation. Also, the number of blocks generated per second must be tailored to the network's needs. Most importantly, this breakthrough opens new horizons and possibilities.
