Check out the DIFFERENCE between these two interviewers questions and Amusans response. Like I'll keep saying...relatability makes a HUGE difference!

@trackspice Lovely interview that we need more of, but there also needs to be space for journalists who aren't there simply to affirm and big up athletes, surely? I don't think a lack of relatability was the issue here.

One is fluffy puff-piece stuff and the other is asking about something unpleasant but widely reported in mainstream press and crucial for the sport's legitimacy. The first is very welcome. The second is necessary if athletics wants to join the sporting media big leagues

A World Athletics shit show. She gets suspended for “whereabouts” then WA “tribunal” comprised of 41 nations rules did not violate & allowed to compete. AIU however holds press conference DURING Worlds as she’s running to say “we may appeal” based on “independent review”

Both are good forms of journalism, there has to be space for people to ask difficult questions, that are going to get more too the truth and provide more context, especially in this case where the AIU do not support the ruling of her running, it's fair to as about it

What makes a huge difference is the role of the person asking - wanting to ingratiate yourself with the subject, be nice to them, entertain them...vs. asking questions the audience would like answer to even if the subject doesn't like them. The problem isn't the questions.

Some people are soooooo good at their jobs and never receive the recognition they deserve. Both reporters asked the SAME question, but only one reporter humanized the athlete. If you can’t see the difference then you don’t belong in sports media. 🙏🏿🙌🏿💯

She doesn’t ask her what happened with the missed tests. So there’s that. Then she barely lets her speak… it’s 90% interviewer asking AND answering her own questions.

Tobi and Sha'Carri have a lot of people in track and field showing their true selves, and it's ugly.

The difference is humanity. The dude has been contentious with Black athletes. His dog whistles are loud and clear in his tweets.

Relatability indeed.
