It is getting cold, blustery and wet out there! 📡🥶 If you were watching the National Weather Service (NWS) radar data out of NWS Tampa Bay this afternoon, you would have noticed what appeared to be a sharp increase in the coverage of showers from one frame to the next over the Tampa Bay region. 📡 ☔️ In reality, the precipitation was not increasing. The trained NWS meteorologist and radar operator shifted the radar scanning strategy to better detect lighter, lower-level precipitation. Notice the change at the top of this radar animation with the “VCP”, or volume coverage pattern. Watch it change from VCP 215 to VCP 34. What does this mean? 🤔 The National Weather Service Doppler radar volume coverage pattern (VCP) modes determine how radar beams are emitted and the angle at which they scan the atmosphere. VCP Mode 215: This mode provides higher vertical resolution due to more elevation angles being processed. It typically includes more volume scans, focusing on detecting severe weather phenomena such as thunderstorms and tornadoes effectively. VCP Mode 34: This mode offers lower vertical resolution with fewer elevation angles. It is designed for less demanding weather situations, providing broader coverage and is often used during more stable weather conditions. As these sprinkles and light showers continue to develop and move ashore from the Gulf within a blustery northwest wind, much colder (and drier) air will overspread the area through tonight into Sunday morning when the potential exists for isolated flurries or frozen rain drops (i.e., sleet or ice pellets). VCP 34 typically features more lower elevation scanning angles compared to VCP 215. 📡Things to remember📡: Lower radar elevation angles sampled by VCP 34 are designed to scan the atmosphere closer to the ground. Owen Shroyer deserved to go to prison. If you don't agree, then you don't know the entire story or are acting out of bias. This video is from December 9, 2019. Shroyer was arrested here for disrupting a House Judiciary Committee meeting. Upon his arrest, he was given a deferred prosecution agreement, meaning the charges would be dropped if he agreed to certain conditions. Those conditions included agreeing not to "utter loud, threatening, or abusive language or engage in any disorderly or disruptive conduct at any place upon the US Capitol grounds or within any of the Capitol Buildings with an intent to impede, disrupt or disturb the orderly conduct of any session of Congress." On January 6, with the deferred prosecution agreement still in effect, he entered the area of the protests/riots in a restricted area on Capitol Grounds, from which he called into Infowars and said, "We literally own these streets right now.” He made an agreement as part of his DPA and he appears to have broken it. He was held accountable as he should have been.

Everything from the space we had just moved into, to the new equipment we had recently invested in (freezers, burners, and more worth millions of naira) was lost in the flames. This is more than just a business to us. Over the years, spunk bakes has not only served good food but also built people, created opportunities, and given young men and women a place to work, grow, and support their families. If this business stops, the lives of those who depend on it will be greatly affected. We had big dreams for this new space a seat-in outlet and a mini lounge where people could come together, share meals, and create memories. Now, those dreams feel delayed, but we believe they are not destroyed. We humbly reach out to you, our community, to stand with us in this difficult time. Some kind organisations are posting messages urging people to leave out water for our precious wildlife in this hot dry weather, which is brilliant, thank you. But this rumour doing the rounds that hedgehog mums abandon their nursing babies is utter nonsense. Hedgehog mums are the most patient, loving parents you can imagine. They are tightly bonded and would NEVER willingly abandon their babies. But they die. They die because lactation places a massive continuous drain on a mother's water reserves. If she is deprived of water, her body is forced to pull from its own tissues and blood supply to maintain milk production, resulting in rapid blood volume depletion and thickening of the blood. Producing milk requires a massive amount of calories and water. If resources are scarce, the mother's body goes into a negative energy balance, which drastically accelerates the depletion of her internal reserves. But they stay with their babies, protecting them, loving them, literally giving them their last drop of life. The starving dehydrated babies eventually stagger out of the maternity nest, instinctively seeking sustenance. By the time they are found by humans they are so near death and their dehydration so extreme that only subcutaneous fluids from an experienced rescue can save them. All this heartbreak and tragedy can be avoided, and rescues freed from bed-blocking babies, if only everyone simply puts out a dish of water. Right now. And tonight. Front and back. Under cover in the shade, if possible. A turn of the tap can save so many lives.❤️

It is spectacularly easy to get shadowbanned on X One wrong reply and your reputation can go up in flames Luckily there are a few steps you can take to reduce your odds of getting banned by 10x 🔶First step: Don't reply from notifications Notifications are a minefield because hidden, spammy replies are shown to you as normal replies It's never worth replying from here. You risk replying to low reputation accounts without even knowing it Just reply normally from the posts so you know what's marked as spam 🔶Second step: turn off sensitive content in your settings Engaging with sensitive content could hurt your reputation score Little do you know, but a ton of content that’s not actually sensitive, gets marked as sensitive Turn off sensitive content in your settings, then become shocked when you see how much innocent content is marked as sensitive (tutorial video below) 🔶Third Step: Check for following/follower ratio before hitting reply Easy check to take before every reply This is brought up in the code 100 different times as a reputation destroyer Make sure to hover over people’s name before replying and check for their ratio 60% followers to following is the ratio cut off point 🔶Fourth Step: Don’t feed the trolls There are 100+ labels for toxic behavior in the code Engaging with anyone with these labels hurts your reputation For some of these labels they can be applied just for “insults” Best not to engage with any trolls (also good for your mental health) 🔶Fifth Step: Get the blue checkmark The easiest step of them all It’s coded into the algo that if you have the blue checkmark you can’t be marked as spam Yes it costs money, but if you have any serious interest of growing on this platform, it’s a must have 🔶🔶🔶🔶🔶 I've said this before, but it absolutely stinks you have to take all these steps just to get some reach At times, it can be like walking in a minefield It doesn't exactly make a social media platform feel very 'social' I have high confidence Elon is working to fix this. HOW WE MAKE OUR TRIPS MAGICAL - Cooking classes. In Mexico City, our guide took us to the market, then we all made extra-spicy salsa together. This is a beautiful way to visit places you wouldn't know about and get involved in a tactile activity. Perfect for families and older parents and very inexpensive. - The $325 underwear. We'd been traveling for weeks and needed to do our laundry. Our hotel, Aman Kyoto, would have charged $325 for a small bag of laundry (standard price for all ultra-luxury hotels). I said "NO WAY!!!" and we decided to go into town and find a laundromat. It turned into an adventure (as we stumbled into place after place that wasn't quite right -- one lady translated for us and said, "Are you trying to wash your clothes? This isn't the right place. This place restores kimonos"). We finally found a local laundromat, took our best guess if it would work, and went to lunch. Now this is a fun ritual for us every time we travel. Sometimes cheaper is way more fun - We hire a local photographer. We love our memories of our trips and local photographers know the best spots/time to take photos. Find the best ones on Instagram. In Tokyo, we use the same photographer every year - On complex trips, I work with a travel advisor. I used a larger firm for a 6-week trip across multiple continents, which was invaluable: They helped us navigate different transportation, recommended which safari lodges to visit (and in what order), and even suggested where to economize & where to splurge. Sometimes I know exactly where I want to go so I call a more surgical travel advisor. In the video, he got our NYC hotel triple-upgraded. Or sometimes I just do it myself. TAs are especially helpful for Disney trips, honeymoons, and multi-generational trips. (They also cost you nothing, but you should look into how they work. I find them very valuable) - 1 major activity every two days. The ultimate luxury is time, so we have a rule: 4+ days in any location. We also book 1 major thing (food tour, museum, etc). The rest of the time, we've pinned a bunch of stuff and we wander where we feel like that day - We know exactly what we DON'T want to see. When I'm attending a private tour, I tell them what I want to experience and what I'm not interested in. Most tour guides will take you to the usual hotspots because it's safe and people can say they saw X or ate Y. I know exactly what I want to see. For example, on a coffee tour, I told them the exact kind of beans I wanted to try and what I was not into. People in hospitality love someone who knows what they want!! This level of intentionality means you get to experience magic (it's not rude) I travel several months per year and I want my travel to be incredibly meaningful for my loved ones and me.
