Checked on replacement heifers. These are our calves born this spring. They are aging well and starting to size up. We will pelvic measure and weigh for size to see who makes the cut. Good healthy herd here. Weather continues to be excellent

Powell: The point is that we are starting to see layoffs and important gatherers of data are saying that they are having to cut back on the size of their surveys and that will lead to more volatility in the surveys. I think we should take a step back. From our standpoint, having really good data on the state of the economy at any given time is a huge public good.

This would never have been, were it not for lives saved many years ago: Orphaned elephants rescued and raised in our care, many with near fatal, and lifelong physical injuries. But here they are, thanks to the daily support of our Keepers and a global family of foster parents and donors. If you look closely, you’ll see two of the four calves born into this herd, growing up with their mothers - and plenty of nannies - by their side. Meet the herd at:

Another great day of helping others here in #Ukraine. Today was spent on a farmers field checking for mines and UXOs. We visited this farmer over a week ago and I told him we will help him, and keeping to our word, we are back. Please see for your way to support our mission and give hope to these farmers who are heading back to their fields regardless of the danger because they need to support their families.
