Checking in on the job market

Notice how these genius high IQ HR people don’t even bother to read what’s in the resume and are judging them based on looks.

Who cares about if it was AI generated. Can you answer my questions and can you back up your stated work experience

Recruiter here! I love getting AI generated resumes. They are clean and concise, often looking much better than people who try to get creative with it. If someone doesn’t have a resume, I will even help them make it. Which I typically do by utilizing AI. Resumes aren’t about showing off your graphic design skills (unless you’re applying to work as a graphic designer), they are to convey your talents and past work experience. Why would using a tool to make that document disqualify anyone from a position that has nothing to do with someone’s ability to write a resume? Honestly, I wouldn’t even want to work for someone who’s dumb enough to pass on an applicant for being efficient. Luckily I do the hiring, so I don’t have to worry.

Probably the same reason teachers fail students for using AI. they're too lazy to make it their own . Which is a bad reflection on their work ethic . Yeah use ai to get your ducks in a row Now make it your own. Put it in your own words

I’m an AP rep. I pay bills for a living. I can’t tell you how many different vendors’ bills are the EXACT same format wise. Maybe they should give a discount to their customers because they use widely used templates to bill them, hm? Level the playing field a bit huh?

Many comments here eluding to the applicant didn’t work hard enough or might be considered lazy which is one way to see it. I’d argue that they managed time effectively and were driven enough to complete the task efficiently.

Oh - the shittier you make it the better.

The US Job Market is Broken and has been for years

The hypocrisy with everything is just insane and let’s face it. It’s humans on the other side of the fence. It’s all humans being assholes. No way getting around it. You have a group of humans that think they’re better than the other group of humans. It’s ridiculous.

AI turned everyone into a NPC.

ATS drops your resume if it scores too low against the job req with keywords. ATS also drops you if it detects an AI-generated resume. So the moral of the story, you're not getting past AI...ever. And the number I've heard is closer to a 90% reject rate for ATS.

I've been working in HR for 15 years; organizations need to completely gut recruiting departments as the gatekeepers that they are and require hiring managers to screen the resumes themselves.

Well…..

An employee is going to see the applicant that works the hardest to get the job, will work the hardest to keep the job. Using AI might be seen as using the easy way..

There isn't a good AI solution for providing an actual "personalized" resume. Meaning, everyone might only "look" the same on paper, but worse, they "sound" the same. That's where the crux of the problem lies. I have a solution for that I'm working on at the moment, not sure if it will amount to anything but always good to have a problem to solve.

And let’s face it in America it’s just control they want control. Everybody wants control of everything if you’re in the electricity industry you want to be able to control people‘s thermostats, blah blah blah blah blah

When I wrote in school I got penalized for using the Dewey system. Then as tech went on I kept getting penalized for using askjeeves and Google. (joking) Same logic as don't use a calculator. I think it's a power issue like you stated. AI saves time, more efficient and if anyone studied business, little's law, reducing bottlenecks and being more efficient are all qualities needed to survive and make money. AI will change everything. Knowing that, why would you not hire someone familiar with it?

Why do I have a feeling the more people who include the word “Saar” are the ones getting callbacks, Saar

Wow. Holding it against people because they use ai to make their resume better is crazy.

As someone always looking for something better...its all bullshit. Companies are lying, the BLS is lying. They find any reason to toss your resume, any reason at all. The wrong indention, a bold point where someone said not to have one, one too many lines, pages, or words. We have all been told to optimize for ATS because ATS rejects 80+% of qualified applicants already. We are told YOU WILL NOT GET PAST THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM before it gets into a humans hand generally speaking. I believe 80-90% of jobs are fake. I believe that the ATS rejects 95% and allows a meager 5% to reach HR and I think its on purpose...also makes their job easier, to only have "one or two applicants a week". A scarce job market means that the companies get to decide who gets a job and who does not...which means you are in a position of subservience...as they intended. On the other side, looking like they dont have enough applicants means that they can backfill with temp/illegal workers depending on the work and the need. Your job is a temporary rental situation just like everything else. Is anyone understanding yet?

Still look at all applicants.

Is another code word that the hiring in based on who your know not what you know.

Resume thrown in trash because “too many big words”

Even worse, most higher-end jobs will want to see some AI exposure in a candidates resume now, so they want people who know how to use AI as a tool, except for the very specific instance of creating a resume and applying to the job. Job market is now structurally cooked.

i throw away all resumes with a diploma listed (is a go to troll. in reality i only do a portion of the interview. but i get a hard no. don't fucking hire them. i spent more time at the bottom than the owner.) but collage grads, all the ones we tried are fucking useless.

I can stand the bullshit of having to sign up for a company website just to submit a resume. When they demand that I join their website, I no longer want your job. And for chists sake, whay are big corporations still asking what your fucking pronouns are?

He’s not wrong HR is using AI to filter out resumes based on certain criteria too…

Rules for thee but not for me

HR are usually the lowest IQ and most useless people in an organization. Yet they control all the hiring. Amazing right.

Imagine thinking copy paste ai temple will land you a job. Imagine being so creative that you have to use AI to help you with a simple resume. Of course nobody will hire someone who uses ai to help them with a resume.

Throw away half of resumes in the stack. Don’t hire unlucky people.

SHRM is the Problem. HR (mostly women) departments need to get dismantled.

They are just looking for any way to reduce the pile Hubby had so many applications it overwhelmed him He wouldn’t even look at any He would only interview someone who walked in looking for a job

I can’t get over the fact and listen to what he’s saying because it looks like his hat has four bills on it
