The reason for telling a story is often as important, if not more so, than the story itself. You could just say, 'One time, I was almost the spokesman for Subway. Here's what happened.' But on stage, I started by saying, 'I'm so grateful to be performing here. I thought the highlight of my career was when I booked the campaign to be the spokesman for Subway.' Right there, you give yourself a reason to tell the story. You have a story, but you need to figure out your way in. Figure out a reason for saying it. Don't get lazy about those moments; figure out why." The way into a story is by tying it to stakes; the stakes are what make the person across from you lean in and ask, "What happened?"

#donghae #동해 🐯: Anyway, everyone…Congratulations. You can now watch Donghae’s first concert. Seriously, what did you all think of the poster? How was the tank-top fashion? Was it pretty? But honestly, there’s something even prettier. Please look forward to it. When I was in Wuhan, China, the first poster came out. And it felt kind of strange. Of course, when we did the fan-con before, we released posters too. But this is my first concert since I was born, so it feels new, different, and exciting. I thought to myself, “Wow… now there’s really no turning back. I can’t go backwards anymore. Now I just have to do it.” So I’m really excited. But there’s still so much to do and so many things to organize. Honestly, I can’t ask everyone to understand everything. I’m working really hard, putting in a lot of passion and doing my best. But if you happen to see some parts that feel a little lacking, I hope you’ll understand. Actually, before, I worked together with staff from many different departments. But now I’m in a position where I’m involved in everything, choosing everything, participating in everything, giving opinions on everything. So the pressure is really huge. I’m not saying “please understand all of that,” but since everything is my choice, I also have to take responsibility for everything. That’s why it feels very burdensome sometimes. Every single cut, every detail—credits, lyrics, everything, I’ve spent time choosing them. Sometimes I feel discouraged, but when I think, “Fans will probably like this,” I gain strength again. I don’t know the correct answers beforehand. I choose things based on what feels right to me. I hope you all will like those choices, and I believe you will. So I’m preparing everything very hard. This time two posters were released with the concert dates, and I’m glad that many of you seem to like them. What I can confidently say is that I’m doing my best to give you really good things. And I think I understand a little about what you all like the most, so I had some confidence in that.
