Ferrer argued that the authenticity of the acknowledgment receipts is ultimately for the court to determine after the prosecution submits its offer of evidence. She also said the defense could not stipulate on the competence of a witness to identify the exhibits, noting that the witness had assumed the work of another individual and that the extent of her examination of the documents was unknown.
