So the Zimbabwean Government and City Councils can see vendors everywhere, but somehow they cannot see raw sewage flowing through our streets, overflowing drains, mountains of rubbish and unbearable smells? They see the vendors because they are an easy target. But the sewage crisis, poor sanitation, broken infrastructure and lack of basic services require real leadership and accountability. How can a government talk about order and cleanliness while residents are forced to live with sewage running through their communities? Clean cities don't start by chasing desperate people trying to make a living. They start with functioning councils, proper sanitation, reliable water, waste collection and decent infrastructure. Deal with the root causes. Create jobs. Build proper markets. Fix the sewage systems. Collect rubbish. Provide clean water. You cannot police poverty while ignoring the conditions that create it. Cry, my beloved Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼💔

Questions to ask . Is Harare able to deliver clean water to all, uninterrupted supply of electricity from the public grid-for homes and industries, is she able to meet the overall social/economic needs of residents? When was the last time Harare was able to function optimally?

Cleanliness must create better livelihoods, not destroy them. Order and opportunity can coexist.
