Our kids need more time in the classroom, not less, yet Chicago parents are being asked for their kids to lose another day of school on May 1st for a political Day of Action. Parents and kids rely on schools for learning and consistency. Closing schools will send parents scrambling for babysitters or losing wages to stay home to care for their kids. For some kids, schools are where they get their meals and are the safest place they’ll be that day. As a CPS mom, I have skin in the game and expect my son to be in school where he belongs on May 1st. Keep Chicago’s students in the classroom, parents at work, and focus on the city’s test scores, not its politics. #chicago

She saw several military vehicles on her neighborhood street yesterday and says if you are staying, get ready to fight, if you aren’t, pack your bags (and get out of town for a few days). She says black and brown people are upset with Kamala along with the pro-Palestinian protesters. I think only about a mile was set aside for protests with permits. This could get really bad. It’s now open season on Chicago Police. A driver ramming into 5 police officers is a direct result of a decade long, scorched-earth, no-holds-barred war of resistance against CPD. This war against police — the purpose of which is to undermine police authority and the rule of law — has been waged by progressive lawmakers, community groups, and the CTU. A campaign of hate against CPD, the result is police have now been backed into a corner by this backlash, and officers have been subject to a dramatic increase in attacks. By stoking baseless and ridiculous fears of police with incendiary comments, the CTU, progressive aldermen, and community groups have created an atmosphere in which people believe it is possible to attack CPD with impunity.
