1) Jax said 'right before people abstract' 2) Both Ragatha and Gangle confirmed Kaufmo was being an asshole to them in the first episode, and they were worried he was still mad at them. It is implied he was acting out of character.

This did feel like a betrayal. I remember Jax's words resonating with me, because I've known times when someone overstepped a boundary and talked about someone who's difficult to be around. But then it turns out that Jax is giving a much less than reliable account.

Straight up two of the most pleasant people to be around. Jax was just trying to get into Pomni’s head that his behaviour was normal, which is tragic how far he was willing to abide by perceived norms while also being insulting to both Kaufmo and Ribbit.

The whole point is that he was projecting in a very delusional way, to avoid accepting the brutal reality for what it was. He kept telling himself that THEY were the ones being unpleasant, because he found that easier to accept than the truth that HE was the unpleasant one.

Before the finale I was giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe Kaufmo and Robbie did something to Jax that the others didn’t know about, like something that would make Jax have major trust issues. But after the finale I don’t feel any sympathy for this ass hole.

I know that characters fibbing about a backstory in order to deflect blame is not unheard of in fiction, but it still hurts.
