In China, self-serve gas is prohibited. Attendants have to pump the gas, meaning an average gas station has dozens of employees vs the 2 or 3 we have here. This is expensive so automation is worth the investment. We could have this here in the US but we went cheap, let people pump it themselves. lol

Replace human drivers with autopilots, human workers with robots, and people on street with humanoid robots and you won't need people at all. Chine will be country of drones then.

Apparently, refueling can be done slowly, complicatedly, and expensively. If that person had refueled the car instead of fiddling with a tablet, the trip would have continued much sooner.
