China expands its space presence from the sea: a new leap in building its satellite internet network China successfully launched a Gravity-1 rocket from the sea off the coast of Shanghai, carrying eight Qianfan constellation satellites and an experimental high-speed communications satellite, placing them into an orbit at an altitude of 800 kilometers. Notably, the payload exceeded 3 tons, setting a new Chinese record for payload mass and orbital altitude in a single sea launch. This was also the rocket’s fourth successful sea launch. In my view, the most important aspect is not the launch itself, but the speed at which these operations are being repeated and China’s ability to turn sea launches into a practical and recurring option for building its space infrastructure. With the continued deployment of Qianfan satellites, China appears to be steadily expanding its own satellite internet network.

China sent a new satellite group into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province on Tuesday. The satellite group was launched at 19:59 (Beijing Time) aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket and successfully entered its preset orbit. The satellites will make up the Spacesail Constellation, a Chinese low-orbit satellite network intended for commercial use. This launch marked the 642nd flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series, according to the launch center.

🇨🇳 CHINA PLANS TO TAKE ON STARLINK BY LAUNCHING 200,000 SATELLITES Beijing has filed paperwork to launch a massive satellite constellation to rival Starlink. The state-backed China Satellite Network Group submitted its bid to the UN’s ITU, aiming to lock down radio frequencies for a global broadband network. The goal? A “secure, controllable, and efficient” satellite system - one that doesn’t rely on the West. Nothing says "global internet freedom" like 200,000 government-controlled satellites and a firewall in space. Source: SCMP

🚨 Iran moves forward with Soleimani satellites despite US-Israeli war The Martyr Soleimani Constellation is a 24-satellite network for narrowband telecommunications 🔸 Construction of all 24 satellites is moving forward without disruption, showing the resilience of Iranian long-term space ambitions in the face of war and sanctions 🔸 The network will allow Iran to build expertise in satellite mass production, networking and internet connectivity 🔸 The advance represents a shift away from one-off satellite launches toward full-scale production lines The constellation will be another milestone in the Iranian indigenous space program

We've just signed Electron's largest commercial launch contract ever: 20x new launches with Earth-observation constellation operator Synspective 🚀🦉 That brings the total number of Synspective launches on Electron to 47 - the most of any Rocket Lab launch customer. We're proud to continue building out their low Earth orbit constellation through to 2031.
