Only the West can willingly enjoy cheaper, better goods and then rebrand the experience as being victimized. The real scandal, in their eyes, is not “overcapacity.” It is that someone else became better at industry than they were.

Rare earth metals are not rare. The issue is the smelters and refineries to make the finished rare earth metals from the raw ore. It has been impossible for over 40 years to build these types of industries in Europe, the USA or anywhere except China. So China built them and now it doesn’t matter where the ore is, 90% of the refineries and smelters are in China so the raw ore has to go to China. So China controls the finished rare earth metals. The west over regulated and gave away a strategic industry.

And with the chips and everything that is involved in that, his argument is if he's not able to compete in China, their system can over take him and thus the U.S.
