Target speed: 1,000 km/h (621 mph). That's faster than commercial aircraft. On the ground. The acceleration alone is borderline violent - 0 to 435 mph in two seconds is 9.8g. Fighter jet territory. Passengers would need specialized seating just to survive the launch. But let's address reality: This is a test platform. Prototype speeds don't mean operational trains. China announces ambitious projects constantly. Some materialize (their existing 430 km/h maglev in Shanghai works). Others disappear quietly. The pattern though? They're attempting scale nobody else is. High-speed rail connecting every major city. Maglev research pushed to extremes. Infrastructure spending that makes Western investment look microscopic. Meanwhile in America: Amtrak averages 105 km/h between cities. California's high-speed rail project started in 2008, burned $10+ billion, and hasn't moved a passenger. The fastest train in the U.S. hits 240 km/h for exactly one 54-mile stretch. China's going for 1,000 km/h. Even if they only achieve 800 km/h operationally, that's still triple America's maximum. #WATCH | Mumbai: Ashish Chauhan, MD & CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India, says, "...1000 years ago, we accounted for 50% of the world's GDP. When the British came to India, we were at 33% of the world's GDP. When the British left in 1947, we were at 2% of the world's GDP. Some of this was taken from us, but mostly it was because they developed new technologies. We forgot to create new technologies. We forgot to adopt new technologies. And since 1947, we have been trying to organise ourselves as a new country, as a young country. Around 1991, we started liberalisation. And now we are at around 4% of the world's GDP. Going from 2% to 4% is actually a 100% increase. But this is still very low... Countries with a young population are good at adopting new patterns. Where are those countries? If you look at Japan, it has become old. If you look at China, it has suddenly become old... India, we will remain young until 2050-2060. We have two young countries in neigbourhood, Pakistan and Bangladesh, but they are not technology adopters. They want to live the life they did 1600 years ago. Then go to Africa, they are fighting among themselves. Go to Europe, it has become old. Go to America, there will be fewer people in 2026 than in 2025...Now we are technology adopters. Every Indian is now connected to technology..."

This new structure, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, will cut travel time across the canyon from 90 mins to just one.

Not sure what to make of this, but there appears to have been a fire in the area where SpaceX has been testing propellant gasification systems. These are suspected to be part of the orbital propellant transfer R&D program Tough to say from this angle, but this seems like it might be coming from one of the exhaust vents, instead of one of the three test stands. If thats the case, its probably not an issue. Just the first time we are seeing this particular test. 🎥: NSF - NASASpaceflight.com
