A flight ceiling of 15km /49,000 feet/ does =not= mean that the drone can fly above the operation ceiling of pretty much all air defense systems. Most fighter planes reach that height, and of course missiles go much higher.

Why make such blatant falsehoods?? MIM-23 Hawk: A medium-range SAM with a range of 28-31 miles (45-50 km) and a flight ceiling of 65,000 feet (20,000 m). Patriot: A long-range surface-to-air missile system with a range of up to 120 km (75 miles) for aerial targets and 60 km (37 miles) for ballistic missile targets. THAAD: A terminal high altitude area defense system with a range of 120 miles (200 km) and a flight ceiling of 93 miles (150 km).

But i believe that it’s something to the next two decades. Sixth-generation aircraft concepts often emphasize manned platforms controlling swarms of drones (loyal wingmen), but the question pushes further: How will manned fighters compete against high-altitude unmanned systems operating 10–15 km above their service ceiling and potentially launching air-air hypersonic missiles? In January I will post an article on China's development of layered high-altitude drone systems for ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance), one optimized for aerial threats and another for naval targets. Recent Chinese programs, like high-altitude stealth drones, recharge stations and mothership concepts capable of deploying swarms, suggest active progress in this direction.
