Chinese are making documentaries about ultra-extreme poverty and decaying cities, since they don’t exist in #China anymore. And the prime location for these films? Greatest country on earth, USA 🇺🇸! Welcome to Oakland, California:

Poverty definitely still exists in China. However, the kind of open drug use and slums that exist in the West does not exist there. A rural village may be poor in China but it doesn't have people rolling around on the streets out of their minds and randomly stabbing people to death and being let off. The vibe in some places in the West is post apocalyptic. 10 years ago my Chinese friends could not really believe me when I told them how bad the West is getting and the crazy things that they were doing that are destroying our societies. Now there is a cottage industry there showcasing it.

The price of or forever wars. Trump won’t fix this. China wins.

"ultra-extreme poverty" You can be poor, yet dignified - been there. This is something else.

You might find this interesting. I'm cab driver in New Jersey. I get a party of 5 guys going to Manhattan. And they are very happy to be going. As we are getting nearer to the tunnel, they're all taking pics and video with their phones of the big buildings. We get into the city and they want any tourist destination. We are heading down the street and I point at Madam Tussauds. As I'm approaching, there are these big blocks, that maybe are used as planters, but they're all covered with red, white and blue tarps for the 4th of July. Not symbolic enough? There's homeless people sleeping on many of them, out in the heat. And one gentleman had his back to the street mooning the traffic as we passed. I could not have invented a more symbolic photo op.

Ummmm, they 100% do exist in China. I've been to several metro areas in China in the past 20 years for work and every single one of them have severely impoverished slums. Chongqing, Shanghai, Beijing, Fuzhou - everywhere.
