chinese appropriation of indian clothing & dancing in the name of dunhuang goes like this. they do this especially through games & media- 1. Indian cultural heritage (clothing) 2. China adopted it, initially claiming it was a reference to India. 3. Chinese games decided to appropriate it for ancient Xinjiang. 4. Many years later, it became a "Western Regions" style. 5. When Indians tried to argue that the clothing came from India, the classic Chinese argument was: "This is a Persian style, which has already incorporated local Chinese concepts and belongs to China."
