I call upon Kenyan leaders to urgently intervene and protect our people who are at risk of losing their jobs in Tanzania following the new laws being enforced there. We must stand with our brothers and sisters who have invested their lives, resources, and families in Tanzania. Even those doing small businesses such as hawking should be allowed to continue earning a living. Some of our people had already run away from challenges back home and settled there for survival—now where are they expected to go? Kenya has embraced our neighbours without discrimination. In our markets, in manual jobs, hawking, kinyozi, domestic work, hawking tea, and even open maize roasting, we have given our East African brothers and sisters full freedom to operate and earn a living without harassment or discrimination. The East African Community (EAC) Common Market Protocol guarantees freedom of movement, freedom of residence, and freedom of labour, allowing East Africans to work and conduct business in any member state. If these new regulations in Tanzania contradict these agreed freedoms, then leaders must boldly speak out and seek immediate clarification. If we remain silent, someone out there is suffering. Someone is losing a livelihood. When jobs are lost, depression follows, and families break. Let’s not wait until people are in caskets for us to speak. The time to act is now. Kenya must stand with its people.

We understand that the SA government failed to implement the immigration act 13 of 2002 to protect our country and its wealth. However the people who are making things worse for us in our communities are women. Old grannies that takes goods on credit and women that sleep with these things. Ok enough now! Where are our leaders to finally push back on these insults? Many South Africans denounce violence against our fellow Africans. But, these incessant insults towards us by calling South Africans lazy has to be challenged and rebuked. It is this very rhetoric that is fueling anger. It's Youth Month, a time we honour young people who took to the streets to fight for the freedom of this country. Remember Soweto, June 16 in 1976 and Turfloop, June 12 1986. #FeesMustFall as well as #RhodesMustFall ... Who did that?! Our country is not perfect. We have serious issues we ought to deal with and that's our burden to carry. To continue allowing people with loud voices to call us lazy and spit on our faces is disheartening. Again, no sane South African wants to see innocent people being violently attacked. Many just want things to be done right and legally. Yes, including immigration. It's the so-called lazy South Africans who dealt with Covid and made sure the pandemic does not decimate our part of the world. It is the same lazy South Africans who send our soldiers to wars to help our fellow Africans. We lost 14 soldiers in DRC. RIP Maqhawe! Why are our leaders in government and civil society allowing us to be disrespected and called lazy? “There is a narrative out there, propagated by those who are organising this reckless and disruptive behaviour, that they are acting in the interests of our citizens and our people. In fact, their behaviour has economic, financial, human and diplomatic costs, as we have heard from Minister Lamola. Indeed, they are acting in a way that harms our citizens, their well-being and our national interests. It is the responsibility of government, including law enforcement agencies, to defend our people, defend our sovereignty and uphold the law, ensuring that the country is safe and secure. Those involved in organising this disruptive behaviour, accompanied by violence — and we have heard that there have been fatalities — will have to bear the costs of their criminal actions. They will also be held civilly liable. I do not know if many of them are aware that they can be held civilly liable for any injury or damage to property resulting from their efforts at incitement.
