Chinese Luna Moth Emerges

Their pastel colours are incredible. They’re the insect equivalent of puppies. Unfortunately, their lives are very brief as they only live for 7-10 days. They do not have a digestive system and don’t eat during this period.

Unconditional love: a mother’s gentle touch

The Chinese Luna Moth (Actias sinensis) is a large, strikingly beautiful moth native to parts of China. It belongs to the Saturniidae family, known for their large size and eye-catching wing patterns. The Chinese Luna Moth has pale green wings with long tails that extend from its hind wings, a characteristic feature of the species. The wings also display eye spots, which are believed to deter predators. As with other members of its family, the adult moths have no functional mouths and do not eat, living only for a short time—typically around a week—just long enough to reproduce. Its life cycle includes four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa, and adult. The caterpillars primarily feed on the leaves of trees such as walnut, hickory, and persimmon.

Amazing!! 🙌❤️🐢This man rescued a stranded turtle and returned it back to the water. The turtle had been washed ashore and stuck in the sand and hot heat for many hours. Life lesson served. Always Help an animal in need.
