She speaks of “greatness” that is centuries old whilst Mr Nolan speaks of “energies”. She wins!

If he had done it as a modern retelling and focused it as an analogy for warfighters' ptsd and an inability "to go home" that would have been great. Instead it's a garbled inauthentic corruption.

I feel this deeply as a Dodgers fan this morning. I am not apologizing for greatness.

This guy is allegedly this great omni-genius of our age but did not even notice the girl running circles around him. A great film editor with a perfect sense of timing, great technical knowledge, definitly not a hack but also not he great philosopher king he's made out to be.

When Nolan talks of greatness he specifically means white men. Hollywood has no problem celebrating the greatness of women or any nonwhite. They'll even create false greatness.

She was as everyone should be. But all critics, journalists in the film industry work for the studios. And suddenly the pseudo-intellectual director appears to be an ignorant, full naked from fake "auter" aura. Just a clerk doing the woke job for them.

Maybe I didn't understand him correctly, but the conventions of storytelling did not begin with movies. The hero's journey, for instance, predates movies entirely. Snow White is thousands of years old and found in many cultures.

The fact a movie, as classic as the book was, and a subsequent interview with the director and a Chinese student, can garner such attention and critique is worrying. It is as if we are simply looking for faults at this point. Some things just need listening and digesting and moving on.

She nails him. He dances around it, but you can see him realising that, 'Yep. I've got to admit it.' She comes from a culture that still sees itself, rightly or wrongly, as aiming for 'greatness'. He comes from a culture whose intelligentsia find the who concept distasteful.

Her questions were pretentious and of no interest to anyone. Fake crap. It’s a movie, nothing more. Nolan makes movies, he’s not a philosopher. The book will outlive it by centuries.

I’d say his answer was simply wrong. Heroes can just be heroes.

And she was educated by Nolan. It's all about the receiving end of the audience.

The West still has PTSD from the World Wars, still hears Adolf proclaiming supremacy, and now equates greatness with his attempted owning of it. Actual objective greatness and apologising for it should not compute in a healthy mind and society. Greatness is goodness.

She simply let Nolan speak, which showed that Nolan has no soul or passion for art.

I heard this from her and I don’t get it. “Greatness” isn’t a real thing, it differs widely from one field of endeavor to another and from one historical period to another. Surely a great Greek warrior from the Bronze Age who takes slaves as trophies wouldn’t be great today.

Greatness sacrificed on the altar of the modern audience. What was once a timeless story is now just another artifact of zeitgeist.

Those who reject greatness are just jealous people.
