The Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command recently dispatched a naval task group headed by Type-055 guided-missile destroyer #Zunyi (Hull 107) to conduct training exercises in the waters east of the Philippine Luzon Island. The training exercises focused on live-fire drills, air-sea coordination, rapid maneuver, and replenishment at sea, aiming to test the troops’ joint operations capabilities. The training exercises are necessary operations carried out in response to the current regional situation, and are fully in compliance with international law and practice. “We are training thousands of pilots in the United States from China—many of whom are going to be flying for the PLA. That to me was shocking,” says investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, author of “The Invisible Coup.” When you look at the websites of certain American flight schools, 90% to 95% of the students there are Chinese nationals, he says. China badly needs pilots, both military and civilian, so the Chinese government subsidizes the cost for its citizens to train in America, Schweizer says. “It's $90,000 a year, cash in advance. These schools get it, and the pilots come and train here. It's basic flight training.” After finishing their flight training in the US, the pilots return to China and, he says, the best of them continue their training on advanced PLA military aircraft in China.

Yet Japanese military aircraft intruded into China's exercise and training zone without authorization to hyping the so-called "radar illumination" issue According to a Chinese PLA Navy spokesperson, the PLA Navy's Liaoning aircraft carrier formation conducted regular carrier-based fighter jet flight training in the waters east of the #MiyakoStrait and had made public the training sea and airspace in advance. On December 6, the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation conducted carrier-based aircraft training after passing through the Miyako Strait, according to yuyuantantian. At 2:10 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue a notification with the message: "Our formation organizes shipborne aircraft flight training as planned." The Japanese destroyer Teruzuki confirmed receipt of the Chinese notification via radio. At 2:28 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue another, more detailed notification: "Our formation plans to conduct carrier-based aircraft flight training, expected to commence at 3 pm, lasting approximately 6 hours, primarily in the area south of the aircraft carrier." Subsequently, the Japanese destroyer Teruzuki once again confirmed receipt of our notification via radio. Japanese aircraft intruded into the designated exercise zone, which was also the sea and airspace notified in advance for the training. Their closest distance to the Chinese aircraft was less than 50 kilometers. Currently, the airborne radar detection range of some mainstream fighter jets worldwide exceeds 50 kilometers.
