“In 2024, Chinese factories installed roughly 300,000 new industrial robots. American factories installed 30,000. Today, there are now more than 2 million industrial robots working in Chinese factories. I’m in China meeting robot companies for our $GNS Genius Teams AI Suite - training and deploying human / robot / AI agent teams at scale. What China is doing is mind-blowing. Robot Valley in Shanghai has 100+ robot companies and growing. In 2025 China produced 773,000 industrial robots and 18.6 million service robots. It also shipped 13,000+ humanoids in 2025, and another 17,000+ in H1 2026. That's 97% of the global humanoid market. Morgan Stanley forecasts China will ship 446,000 humanoids in 2030 (about 30x 2025) and still 90%+ of global volume vs US at 40,000 humanoids / <10% of China. The US thinks it’s getting into a race China has already won.

The AI-controlled robots were supplied by Booster Robotics for the tournament and have the skills of 5 to 6 year old children. Robots were seen getting carried off the field on stretchers after falling over. Booster Robotics founder Cheng Hao says the robots' abilities will exponentially increase over time and will eventually challenge adult teams. "We chose the football scenario for robot competition primarily for two reasons: first, to encourage students to apply their algorithmic skills to real-world robotics," Cheng said. "Second, to showcase the robots' ability to walk autonomously and stably, withstand collisions, and demonstrate higher levels of intelligence and safety."

A pint-sized robot named Erbai in China has gone viral after it "kidnapped" dozens of larger robots at a robot showroom in China. People are finding the incident both hilarious and territying. The event, captured on CCTV, shows Erbai -an Al-powered robot - engaging in human-like conversations with other robots at the showroom to convince them to "go home" with it. The footage shows Erbai roaming the hallways at midnight, it then stops before a row of larger robots and asks one, "Are you still working overtime?"
