THANK YOU !!! I just responded to a podcaster stating "I would be furious that they chose TY . . . My response: Please stop! Seriously. A) Successor is a polite way of saying clip board carrier for the next few years B) Theres's only 1 Matt Stafford if the Eagles and 49-ers have shown the world, you need a competent backup in case of injury. EVERY TEAM has backup quarterbacks. So here's a tissue for your issue ! We can get impact players from other sources, AND let's not forget how Stafford got here in the first place.

With all due respect to Chris, I don’t think you should draft a borderline project QB at 13th overall when you are in an extremely competitive division (minus the Cardinals) and you have a win now roster (with the reigning MVP as your QB). If anything, you should be mortgaging the future to improve the weaknesses in today’s starting roster. Simpson is not even good injury insurance for Stafford, because the team is not getting anywhere near the SB if Stafford goes down. I don’t even like the Rams, but I am shocked McVay okay’ed this. His extreme shrewdness seems to go MIA when it comes to making first round draft picks (or at least overriding his GM). Unless there are some internal considerations that we are not privy to (like Stafford telling the organization that this next year will be his last), I don’t really understand the merits of this pick.

@BetMGM Did they not trade their own first round pick and give 30mil for an all-pro cornerback ? Quite a lot to invest in this years team while also having their other picks. IMO genius since they won’t be drafting this high again and you’d maybe get QB 4-5 in next years draft.
