Today on Joy News, I explained that as a government, we were unable to explain our challenges to the people of Ghana. If we had explained the challenges we faced, Ghanaians who I believe are reasonable would have supported us in navigating the challenges to make the country better. I also touched on party dismissing 279 people after the party has lost this bad in an election. To me, they should’ve rather engaged these party folks as we need to consolidate our numbers into a united front for 2028.

Trump on eliminating the Filibuster… He might just be giving you the playbook on how the rest of this plan gets rolled out… “I am totally in favor of terminating the filibuster, and we would be back to work within 10 minutes after that vote took place, and lots of other good things would happen. Here's some of the things that we'd pass if we terminated the filibuster, voter ID, no mail in, voting, no cash bail, no men and women's sports, no welfare for illegals. You could go on and on. This is two pages of things would do if you did that without it. I don't know that you passed anything, because you can't deal with them. But if we do it. We will never lose the midterms, and we will never lose the general election, because we will have produced so many different things for our people, for the people, for the country, that it would be impossible to lose an election. ….. if the filibuster is terminated, we will have the most productive three years in the history of our country. I suggested to everybody that we should have run a process rather than just grant Kamala Harris her ability to run without a democratic process. She got slaughtered in the election. “To beat the machine we must build a machine.” ••••••••••••••••••• Hi Guys Just in Canberra this morning about to head off to Wagga where we have close to 100 coming to our branch meeting tonight. Next week, estimates will take place in Canberra. I won’t be there for the first time in six years, but to be honest I think it’s much more productive to be out in the community building an active grassroots political party that will hopefully one day take on the majors. If estimates taught me anything it’s that it’s nothing but a stonewalling process. Instead of transparency we get lies and distractions from the very people that should be accountable and transparent to the people. To change this we need to build a machine that can beat the machine. That’s why I’m on the road, spreading the message about the importance of building an active grassroots political party. If we want bureaucrats to start telling the truth in estimates we need to start building a team of like minded people in politics. Smith says the Democratic Party is leaderless and in disarray, arguing failed leadership and political missteps have left them struggling to regroup: “The fact is, it’s leaderless, it’s rudderless, and it has been that way for a very, very long time because of things that happened with Joe Biden—because of the lies that were told to protect him and shield him and the Democratic Party from the kind of things that were going on during that administration. It came back to bite them, particularly with the election. We all know this to be true. And since that time, they’ve been in flux. Democrats all over the place recognize the fact that there needs to be somebody capable of stepping up to be a leader. That person has been trying to be Gavin Newsom, who has decided that governing is something else that needs to be just as much, if not more, of a priority than trolling Trump and trying to beat Trump at his own game. I don’t believe that’s going to work.”

My goal in this budget process has always been to make sure we’re funding core, basic services in a balanced and disciplined manner. We know there is an inherent tension between asking people to pay rates, fees and taxes— and the issue of affordability. We want to make sure our city can provide the quality-of-life services that our residents deserve, but we also want to make sure we’re putting affordability first in our community. While I worry a lot about affordability, I also worry about the ability of our city to deliver quality services without more revenue. I strongly believe that if we're not making the kinds of investments we need to make in our people and our services, we will be managing decay in Austin in a very short period of time. This budget will not meet everyone’s concept of perfection. Truthfully, there are parts of the budget that I don’t like. That goes with living in a big, diverse city—different people will have different priorities, and we need to make room for all of us. Now, it is time for us to trust our voters. Voters have an opportunity in November to make a very important decision. From my perspective, the best part of this budget is that we fully fund our homeless strategy office. That was my greatest emphasis, and we've achieved it. It will make a world of difference in getting homeless people off the street in a very short period of time. I'm also very pleased with what we’ve added to funding for public safety, EMS, and wildfire prevention. A positive vote in the November tax rate election will allow us to pay for these needed services. And we make a significant investment in our parks. I look forward to a result that will be the best benefit of our community.
