Depends on the blitzkrieg type of barrages in the news and social media. Truth be told, so many are blindly shooting themselves in the foot without realizing or reading any of the context, wherever they only parrot talking points from someone in higher power. The ACA, Medicare food stamps are important for something that could happen again, like COVID. Then people would be really stuck. The irony is no one talks about how much the wealthy will get a write off as on the Republican side.

Today on Joy News, I explained that as a government, we were unable to explain our challenges to the people of Ghana. If we had explained the challenges we faced, Ghanaians who I believe are reasonable would have supported us in navigating the challenges to make the country better. I also touched on party dismissing 279 people after the party has lost this bad in an election. To me, they should’ve rather engaged these party folks as we need to consolidate our numbers into a united front for 2028.

Trump on eliminating the Filibuster… He might just be giving you the playbook on how the rest of this plan gets rolled out… “I am totally in favor of terminating the filibuster, and we would be back to work within 10 minutes after that vote took place, and lots of other good things would happen. Here's some of the things that we'd pass if we terminated the filibuster, voter ID, no mail in, voting, no cash bail, no men and women's sports, no welfare for illegals. You could go on and on. This is two pages of things would do if you did that without it. I don't know that you passed anything, because you can't deal with them. But if we do it. I suggested to everybody that we should have run a process rather than just grant Kamala Harris her ability to run without a democratic process. She got slaughtered in the election. My goal in this budget process has always been to make sure we’re funding core, basic services in a balanced and disciplined manner. We know there is an inherent tension between asking people to pay rates, fees and taxes— and the issue of affordability. We want to make sure our city can provide the quality-of-life services that our residents deserve, but we also want to make sure we’re putting affordability first in our community. While I worry a lot about affordability, I also worry about the ability of our city to deliver quality services without more revenue. I strongly believe that if we're not making the kinds of investments we need to make in our people and our services, we will be managing decay in Austin in a very short period of time. This budget will not meet everyone’s concept of perfection. Truthfully, there are parts of the budget that I don’t like. That goes with living in a big, diverse city—different people will have different priorities, and we need to make room for all of us. Now, it is time for us to trust our voters. Voters have an opportunity in November to make a very important decision. From my perspective, the best part of this budget is that we fully fund our homeless strategy office. That was my greatest emphasis, and we've achieved it. It will make a world of difference in getting homeless people off the street in a very short period of time. I'm also very pleased with what we’ve added to funding for public safety, EMS, and wildfire prevention. A positive vote in the November tax rate election will allow us to pay for these needed services. And we make a significant investment in our parks. I look forward to a result that will be the best benefit of our community.

Flaherty on 2028: Many people are like, “Who’s the moderate who can appeal to progressives?” I actually think there’s this question of who is the progressive that can appeal to moderates. AOC’s got good vibes. I think if you were to poll the operative class on who is going to be the campaign that most people want to work for right now, it’s probably going to be AOC. People like her. Now, she has real challenges in a general election, but I would say AOC has a pretty wide lens of acceptability for a lot of voters in the Democratic Party than perhaps people would believe.
