@ChrisGPackham Codswallop. It isn't peaceful to block roads and ambulances, or people from going to work, that is duress. Coughing out all the scientists stats on California is codswallop too - those fires never started from heat, they were just fanned by normal strong winds - that's natural.

I can’t believe this is real but I verified the claims and it’s all 100% real The UK has just announced one of the most significant changes to jail terms in decades. “As of today, they will be scrapping most short-term jail sentences, meaning the majority of criminals who would usually get up to a one-year prison sentence will now receive no more than a suspended sentence. And the main reason they simply don't have enough space. I mean, last year they were even forced to release around 57,000 criminals early because of this 262 of which were freed in error, including some convicted of sexual assault against minors. But now they're approaching it from the other angle too. And courts have been advised to stop handing out short-term jail sentences unless there are exceptional circumstances. Rehabilitation experts cited by the government argue that short-term jail sentences are ineffective anyway, because they do little in reducing reoffending” - Courts now have a strong presumption to suspend prison sentences of 12 months or less instead of sending the offender to jail immediately. - The UK prison system has been in a severe overcrowding crisis. In 2024–2025 the government ran an emergency early release scheme that freed 38,000–50,000 prisoners
