“In the wake of ‘The Boys,’ I signed a deal with Amazon. They wanted to develop something with me in mind, so I had a few meetings with different writers and different kinds of takes for shows. When I met Derek Haas, who created #Countdown and has written all 13 scripts, I just clicked with him immediately. He and I actually grew up in the same town; we went to neighboring high schools, so we had a lot in common right off the bat. Ben Affleck says JUSTICE LEAGUE was so TOXIC it became the lowest point of his entire career and says the studio using Zack Snyder’s daughter’s SUICIDE as an “excuse” was one of the SHITTIEST, GROSSEST things he’s ever seen in HOLLYWOOD Josh Horowitz: “So that, that was, I mean, you know, you, you bring it up, like, that was seeming like a perfect storm of horrible things happening. What was going on with Zack… was a horrible personal tragedy. You were going through it personally and professionally, and this film is like kind of collapsing in front of you. Like, did you kind of have any kind of moment of epiphany on that set about personal or professional?” Ben Affleck: “You know, the truth is that the experience of Justice League for me was so, so negative for lots of different reasons… some of which having to do just with where I was personally, some of which having to do with some of the tragedy that happened during that time, and also the fact that I really saw how not to make a movie like that, which is with the studio at odds with the filmmaker… you’re really making a mistake. And that was what really doomed that. I was really glad and gratified that Zack got to release… which was fucking great. And I was really happy for him. I love books, and I'm an avid reader, but I just have a hard time because of the way that I perceive. "I've had a great sort of - one side of me anyways - was really satisfied by art and drawing and sculpture and sort of visual expression. And I think that that started to, you know, was the thing that kind of made me feel un-frustrated. And also the way the system was designed, sort of not to support me when I was in high school at that time. "It was very difficult, you know, there was a lot of, you know, just, difficulty. My English teacher in high school was worried about what my career would be, and I'm like. He would be happy to know that I'm in the Writers Guild of America now. "But, I think that that all those things are, they're all... you can transcend all those things with perseverance and with interest and with with help. And I think that that's an important part of it. "And I just think I've had to adapt, and sort of... I have my own style of the way I write, I write all, you know, but I'm pretty prolific. And I love- I listen to tons of audio books on tape, unabridged hours and hours and hours. That's all I do when I'm driving in the car or wherever I'm doing. And it's helped me a lot. "And yeah, I mean, I just hope that anyone who is- feels trapped or frustrated by the world in general. You know, they need to just, I think that we all have like a magic spark, and you need to just find the thing that makes you, you know, inspires you and, and gets you excited and pursue it as hard as you can find your passion in the world. Jim Jarmusch on how he got the inspiration to make 'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' (1999): "Interviewer: Can you tell me where the initial idea for 'Ghost Dog' (1999) came from? Jarmusch: I can’t really because I did everything backwards. I started with a really vague idea, but wanting to work with Forest Whitaker was really the beginning. So I was trying to think of what kind of character I could make for the qualities in him as an actor that I liked. That contradiction he has of being both gentle and imposing. So it really started from here. I thought of a warrior character, but with a spiritual side so that I could get both aspects of him as an actor. Then the samurai thing became interesting to me. Unlike Western warriors, who trained just as warriors, Eastern warriors like samurai—or more particularly, Shaolin monks in China—are also priests and teachers. Although samurai are not priests, there is a spiritual depth to their training. So it seemed like an interesting thing. Then to make a kind of Don Quixote character who follows an ancient code that is not part of the modern world seemed interesting to me. I started collecting ideas, as I always do, and eventually I sit down and weave them together and see what the hell I’ve come up with." (Jim Jarmusch's interview with Chris Campion, 2000)

INSECURITY: LET'S TELL PRESIDENT TINUBU THE TRUTH, NOT COMMENDATION Today, the Senate had an elaborate discussion on the security situation in the country, which has worsened in the last few weeks. When the Senate President recognised me to speak, I started by reminding him how I raised this issue with him a couple of days ago, and the need for us to work together. I added that it was good the matter had come up by way of a motion. I felt that the deterioration of the security situation in most communities, the killings and abductions, and even the killing of soldiers and officers — one of them of the rank of Brigadier General — and the way terrorists are abducting students, with bandits attacking several States at the same time, are situations that even nations at war do not experience. Therefore, the matter should be examined with all the seriousness it deserves. I stated that it is very clear that not only our democracy is under threat, but the nation itself is being reduced, belittled, and threatened. I also disagreed with the approach and tone of the motion, and some of the comments from members of the majority party who, in my view, were unnecessarily political. That, in my view, did not match the seriousness of the issue. At this point, the Senate President did not allow me to conclude my comments. But what I was saying was that, yes, as I have said several times, the entire nation is under attack, and we must all unite to address this challenge. I do not agree with the request in the motion, supported by the majority of speakers from the majority party, that the President and the government should be commended. I disagree with it.

I was able to recover a few videos and photos from my life in Gaza. This one ripped my heart to pieces. It is a beautiful memory with my son Kinan, who was just nine months old. I had just come home from work and he was waiting for me at the door, sitting in his baby walker. The way my children greeted me every day after work erased every trace of stress and exhaustion. I watch the video over and over, taking in every detail. I see the floor tiles and remember how many times we struggled to choose them, how many stores we visited searching for the most beautiful, the best. Those days were tiring, but they were full of joy. I see the living room curtains in the background, the couch, and I think of how perfect they were. My home was beautiful. I chose everything with care, the best and the most beautiful for that home. Now I have nothing from that video. Not my clothes. Not my child’s clothes. Not his walker. Not the couch. Not the curtains. Not the tiles. Nothing. All I have left is the ache of longing for my home.

'No Self Control', released in May 1980 was the second single from 'PG3'. This performance is from Top of the Pops. "Steve Reich had done this wonderful record called ‘Music for Eighteen Musicians’, which involved marimbas and I think, of all the ‘systems’ composers, his work had a lot of textures and colours and grooves to them that I really responded to. So I tried to involve elements of that in the work.
